Why Choose Calypso Condo

Honeymooners, couples, families, scuba divers, golfers and fishermen will all feel at home here.  It is a three bedroom, three bath unit on two levels with cathedral ceilings, central air conditioning, two master suites and overhead fans in every room including the veranda and bath rooms.  Every room is fully screened and contains original works of art from the Caribbean and around the world.  From the fully stocked bar in the entry to the three story doll house, sand toys and sports equipment in the adjacent private storage room, Calypso has something for everyone.

Being an end unit, Calypso Condo has windows on three sides and is especially light and airy.  Here is a picture of the great room with its new twelve foot mirror and the newly installed plantation shutters.

Here's another view with our new hand carved wool rug which shows the gallery/lanai above that contains a sofa bed and TV/VHS for children.

Here is the new 40 inch HD TV in front of our picture wall.

And here is the same TV mounted on the wall with our new chest below full of DVD's

Couples  will enjoy the luxurious ambiance of the master bedroom done in a plantation style reminiscent of the great houses that were scattered throughout the island during the colonial days of the sugar plantations.    The seven foot high mirror with hand carved wooden frame sets the tone.  Original oil paintings are found on the walls and the room opens directly onto the screened veranda which captures the Trade Winds.  Floor to ceiling windows provide the sound of the ocean and a view of the lush landscaping and ocean beyond.   All bedrooms include the choice of down pillows or firmer for guests' comfort.

Here's the door leading to the screened in veranda from the lower master bedroom.  We leave it open at night to catch the Trade Winds.

There are two back-to-back bathrooms directly adjacent providing his and hers privacy if there is just one couple downstairs and allowing lots of room to spread out when only the downstairs master is used.  Both full baths have a combination shower/bath tub and provide ensuite baths when the doors to the hall are closed.

This is the first part of the master bath with the tub/shower and commode  beyond.  The new granite counter top hasn't been put in yet in the picture below.

All baths are equipped with hair dryers.  Here's the guest  bath with the new solid wood cabinets and granite counter top installed.

And here it is showing its new glass shower door and one of the safety bars that have been installed by all tub/shower enclosures.

Couples traveling together will appreciate the fact that there are two master suites, one on each floor.  All bedrooms have ensuite baths with a combination tub/shower.  The upstairs master has a cathedral ceiling, large deck outside, individual air conditioning (in addition to the full house air conditioning) and a 27" TV with Dish reception and HBO.   This suite is also quite appealing to adults traveling with children or grandparents who would just like to get away on their own for awhile.

Here is the attached ensuite bath with new cabinets and granite counter top.

And here is the attached large attached deck which is ideal for late afternoon cocktails while watching the palm trees blowing in the wind and the waves rolling in beyond after a day of fishing, diving or just lounging on the beach.  Breakfast coffee and late evening snacks are delightful here as well.   Passing cruise ships are a plus, especially at night, but the view is outstanding at any time.

Families with children and adults who do not want to climb the circular staircase will appreciate the guest room on the main floor done with an Haitian motif.  It has a cathedral ceiling, twin beds, en suite bath and original tropical art with lush plantings beyond.

.

The guest room is practical and appealing to both adults and children.  Haitian art fills the wall in the picture below and there are blackout curtains, sheers, plantation shutters and an overhead fan as there are in all bedrooms.

.

There is a sleeper sofa on the gallery level that provides extra sleeping space.

The children's TV with library of children's VHS movies is also located here.
CD movies are located downstairs in the great room.

The gallery on the second floor also has an attached outdoor patio set up with a gas BBQ, with table and chairs alongside to give the cook moral support.   Our new glass sculpture "Tsunami"  by David Wight is displayed here.

There is plenty of seating for meals beginning with the dining area adjacent to the kitchen.  The original Caribbean art is quite charming and the overhead fan most refreshing.  There is a fully stocked bar at your disposal to the left (guests are asked to replenish what they use) and wall to wall windows to the right with a lovely view of tropical greenery.

The kitchen now has all new appliances, all new hardwood cabinets, and new granite counter tops as well as a custom island mahogany bar top made from wood felled thirty-five years ago during Hurricane Hugo.   The new extra large washer/dryer in located behind the folding doors on the far side.  We have strived to stock our kitchen as completely as possible from waffle maker to rice maker to cappuccino maker to spices.    We want you to feel that this is your vacation home and is as completely stocked as you would have left it yourself.

Here is a view from the other side.

And here is a picture of our very new, very large washer/dryer.

The veranda is an especially lovely location for dining as there is an outdoor overhead fan and a view of the palms with the ocean beyond.   This is my favorite place for answering emails.   Altogether, there are five sets of tables and chairs plus two more seats at the bar.  No matter how large your group or family, you'll never feel crowded.

th

Sportsmen will appreciate the fact that there is also an attached private storage room filled with sports equipment that is available for the storage of  scuba diving equipment.  Snorkels, masks (a limited number), fins, tennis rackets, basketballs, soccer ball, golf clubs, sand toys, floats and a three story doll house are available for use by children of all ages.   All in all, Calypso Condo is the epitome of what one would wish for in a vacation home and we look forward to having you here.  Click here for a floor plan.
