Why Stay at Gentle Winds ?

A beach front condominium is the ideal spot to stay on St. Croix.  You'll feel it's your home away from home rather than a non-personal hotel room and you'll have a whole house for less than the price of a good hotel room.   Prices are usually based on the number of persons renting so even couples and honeymooners can afford to stay.  Gentle Winds is a well maintained, friendly, private community of individually owned condominium built beside a white sand beach surrounded by a protecting reef.   It is centrally located between the world famous scuba and snorkeling sites on the North Shore and the town of Christiansted and is central to the well known snorkeling spots on the west shore and to the many well known eating establishments on the North Shore and in Christiansted.    It is away from the closely populated areas, is beautifully landscaped and is surrounded by native vegetation rather than hotels and apartments.  Wild deer, mongooses and iguanas have been seen on the property, not to mention the ever present cattle egrets walking around the lawn.   During hatching season, baby turtles have been known to walk the wrong way and need to be redirected to the water.

The only access is by sea or by our private driveway.   You'll feel as comfortable and secure as if you were in your own home.  The entrance to Salt River preserve where Columbus landed on his second voyage and where you will find great scuba diving on the canyon walls, can be seen in the picture above just beyond the beach at Gentle Winds.  The entrance to Gentle Winds is seen below.

First you pass the tennis courts and then the four hole chipping golf course on either side of the drive, both of which are available at no charge.

The condominium grounds are beautifully maintained and all condominiums are just a short walk across the lawn to the beach, pool and snack shack which serves excellent food as well as outstanding tropical drinks.  The lower floor contains the two-bedroom units and the top two floors are the three-bedroom units.

The gorgeous new salt water pool and deck has special lighting and fountain features and is open 24/7.  Night swims are a real treat.

For children of all ages, there is a half-court basketball court a on the landward side as well as shuffle board and corn-hole by the sand.

All units have central air conditioning and have individual entrances giving direct access to the landscaped grounds.

Calypso Condo (C-2) is located in the third building from the right facing directly towards the beach where it captures the direct flow of the Trade Winds in the photo below.

The recreation building is just to the right out of sight.

Our recreation room has a lending library as well as game tables.   Pot-luck BBQ's often take place on the patio to the right.

An adjacent room to the right has ping pong and tables for children's games and activities.  A  shuffleboard and crab racing court as well as an outdoor "Pirates Cove" provide additional activities for children.  Here's a view of the other end of the rec. room with pool and snack shack beyond.

There are permanent palapas located up and down the beach and there is no extra charge for the lounge chairs.

Last, but not least, you will enjoy the spacious un-crowded feeling you have from living in a resort located on forty beautifully landscaped acres with only sixty-six units in all.

Here's a picture of the shuffle board court.    The ping pong  room and the crab racing track are just to the right.

And just beyond is the Pirates' Cove which is specially designed for children.
